![]() However, Sony continued to officially deny that a successor was being developed. īy early 1997, the press was reporting that a new PlayStation was being developed and would have backward-compatibility with the original PlayStation, a built-in DVD player, and Internet connectivity. Unbeknownst to him, Sony was designing their own chip in-house and had instructed other companies to design rendering chips merely to diversify their options. Jez San, founder of Argonaut, recalled that his team had no direct contact with Sony during the development process. At some point during development, employees from Argonaut Games, under contract for semiconductor manufacturer LSI Corporation, were instructed to design a rendering chip for Sony's upcoming console. Though Sony has kept details of the PlayStation 2's development secret, Ken Kutaragi, the chief designer of the original PlayStation, reportedly began working on a second console around the time of the original PlayStation's launch in late 1994. Sega, spurred on by its declining market share and significant financial losses, launched the Dreamcast in 1998 as a last-ditch attempt to stay in the industry. By the late 1990s Sony had dethroned established rivals Sega and Nintendo in the global video game market. The PlayStation enjoyed particular success outside Japan in part due to Sony's refined development kits, large-scale advertising campaigns, and strong third-party developer support. Its launch elicited critical acclaim and strong sales it eventually became the first computer entertainment platform to ship over 100 million units. Released in 1994, the original PlayStation proved to be a phenomenal worldwide success and signalled Sony's rise to power in the video game industry. New games for the console continued to be released until even shortly after the end of its life and support from Sony. ![]() It continued to be produced until the beginning of 2013 when Sony finally announced that it had been discontinued after over twelve years of production, one of the longest lifespans of any video game console. Even after the release of its successor, the PlayStation 3, it remained popular well into the seventh generation. In 2004, Sony released a smaller, lighter revision of the console known as the PS2 Slim. A total of over 4,000 game titles were released worldwide, with over 1.5 billion copies sold. The PlayStation 2 received widespread critical acclaim upon release. The PS2 offered backward-compatibility for its predecessor's DualShock controller, as well as its games. The highlight of the system was its Emotion Engine processor, co-developed by Sony and Toshiba, which was said to be more powerful than personal computers. It is the best-selling video game console of all time, having sold over 155 million units worldwide.Īnnounced in 1999, Sony began developing the console after the immense success of its predecessor. ![]() As a sixth-generation console, it competed with Nintendo's GameCube, Sega's Dreamcast, and Microsoft's Xbox. ![]() It is the successor to the original PlayStation, as well as the second installment in the PlayStation brand of consoles. It was first released in Japan on 4 March 2000, in North America on 26 October 2000, in Europe on 24 November 2000, and in Australia on 30 November 2000. Spotted a scam like this? We want to hear about it. People reported a median loss in 2019 of $1,988. (And you don’t get to keep that $1,000, either.)Īnother thing: an FTC analysis published earlier this year showed that fake check scams hit 20- and 30-year-olds hard in the wallet. So, if you deposited a $1,500 check and sent $500 to the “decal agent,” you’re out $500 of your own money. And that check you just deposited? That was fake - which means the money you sent is coming out of your own pocket. So what’s really going on? Well, the “decal agent” is really the scammer. They’ll tell you to pay by money order, Walmart money services, or by making a cash deposit directly into the decal agent’s bank account - all ways that are hard to cancel or get your money back. Then they’ll say to use some of that money to pay their “decal agent” to put the ads on your car. If you message them back, they’ll send you a check to deposit into your bank account. But they’re not really affiliated with the brand. The gist of the scam is this: scammers send emails and post to social media and job boards with messages like “GET PAID TO DRIVE.” They offer to pay you up to $700 a week if you’ll drive around with your car (or truck or bike) wrapped to advertise a well-known product. This time, scammers are saying they’re Marlboro or Purell (but they’re not really). We just heard from more companies that scammers are using their names to trick people into a car wrap scam. ![]()

These snatch blocks are mostly used in permanent rigging applications, however they can also be used in temporary ones too. This type of snatch block is featured in the image above. These types of Snatch blocks are usually purchased to be used with wire rope hoists and winches during temporary applications. Snatch blocks are more often preferred with a quick list below for your reference. You will be able to find many different blocks in the market. When used in conjunction with a winch, a snatch block can increase the winch’s power considerably, allowing for a smoother, easier winching process. There is no specific reason why you should buy one over the other people choose which ever one works best for them, often based on personal preference. The difference between them is that a pulley block is constantly closed and you must thread the line through the axle while the snatch block is designed to open with a gate on the side so the wire rope can be fitted easily as shown in the below pictures.īoth, pulley and snatch blocks will help you to facilitate your lifting operations. Pulley blocks give direction to the rope while loaded they are able to increase the line pull or lifting capacity of a hoist or winch by multiplying the number of lines. Pulley blocks and snatch blocks are both pulley blocks these lifting tools have a wheel on an axle designed to help you lift heavy items up to 30 tonne.

Maintaining good airway patency facilitates adequate ventilation and oxygenation The following are the nursing problem priorities for clients with ineffective cough and airway clearance: This nursing care plan aims to outline the key strategies and interventions necessary to optimize airway clearance and manage coughing problems in a client. Maintaining a patent airway and promoting efficient coughing mechanisms are crucial for oxygenation and the prevention of complications such as pneumonia and respiratory distress. Nursing Care Plans and ManagementĮffective airway clearance and management of ineffective coughing are essential aspects of nursing care for clients with respiratory conditions. Nurses play a crucial role in teaching clients and their families about airway clearance interventions to maintain a patent airway, improve breathing comfort, enhance ventilation and oxygenation, and prevent associated risks. Patency of airway clearance can be an acute or chronic issue, with older individuals at higher risk. However, anesthesia, dehydration, and conditions like pneumonia can hinder these mechanisms. The lower bronchioles and alveoli have mechanisms to keep the airway open, such as the mucociliary system and macrophages. Coughing is the body’s primary method of clearing the airway, but it can be challenging for clients with various conditions. ![]()
The next phase involved implementing real-time domestic transportation visibility. They kicked off the TM/SBLN project in 2022, with the initial phase being focused on ocean visibility, where they were having the greatest problems. For one, TM/SBLN allowed the cooperative to get better visibility to what shipping times would be from alternative ports like Los Angeles or New Orleans. Working in close partnership with the VP of Supply Chain, we quickly mapped out what our key requirements were. ![]() But when COVID dramatically slowed down the shipment transit times, that accelerated the push to get the real-time logistics solution installed. “The TM/SBLN solution was always on our roadmap,” Mr. ![]() Implementing SAP Business Network for Logistics In addition to increased agility, the use of SAP IBP enabled Blue Diamond to reduce inventory by 20%, improve on time in full shipments to customers, and reduce transportation costs by over a million dollars because of a better understanding of what the facility-to-facility shipments needed to be. The process was collapsed from the standard one month rolling planning process to a process that was done on a weekly basis in order to better react to new challenges that were cropping up much more frequently during the pandemic. To react to the dynamic nature of the market during the pandemic, they also sped up their integrated planning process, the process that balances supply with demand. Scenario planning became more important during COVID. An analysis that took 6 hours could now be done in 20 minutes. “What IBP gave us was a single platform with consolidated data, where we could also do scenario planning,” Mr. Demand sensing improves forecasting by incorporating short-term demand signals like point of sale data. The branded products and ingredients businesses were not treated as silos, but instead planning synchronized production across both businesses. The integrated business planning process, enabled by the SAP tool, was then used to better balance demand and supply. That statistical forecast then fed the constraint-based factory planning. SBG: Can you describe some of the features of the APOC Tactical Swords – for example, the lockable scabbard mechanism and removable G10 handle (and what exactly is G10?)īlake: So first of all the swords have a durable black oxide coating that should help with long-term oxidation and corrosion but should still be oiled. 'Chopping Iron' to test the durability of the fine edge. Gus wasn’t married to any one steel and after seeing what the forge did with the thin cross section of the historical medieval swords in 9260 designed by Gus it was an obvious choice. What are your thoughts on this swords durability? Has there been any destructive testing?īlake: We’ve done some destructive testing at the forge and here at CAS. The raw tensile strength of these steel when combined with the simple, robust design seems to eliminate the weak points inherent in most swords with more complex components. SBG: The choice of monotempered 9260 was an excellent one in my opinion. SBG: How would you describe the handling characteristics of the APOC Tactical Swords line? Fast and agile, powerful and authorative or somewhat neutral?ĪNSWER: I would put them in the fast and agile bracket – though we deliberately kept them with a slightly thicker edge to take some heavy use they are thinner in overall profile to make them quick in the hand. We could have made this section flat like everyone else of course and saved some money… but that’s not what we were aiming for. The difference is subtle to the eye but not in the hand. This cross section lightens the blade just enough to give it that exceptional handling that Gus is known for. Not only does the blade change thickness towards the point (distal taper) the back is one long swedge creating a rhomboid type cross section not unlike higher end Japanese katana. But the real reason for the cost difference is the labor in grinding the katana bevels. What is the main difference between the Saber and the Katana, and why is the Katana around $60 more than the Saber?īlake: Well, of course there is a little more material cost in the katana simply due to the length of blade, handle and scabbard. SBG: At first glance, the two APOC Tactical Swords look fairly similar – but have quite different price tags. You see a variety of reactions to any of his sword designs from wild amusement Should handle… Gus’s designs usually throw that pre-conception out the window.
